2007 House Bill 1874: Addressing the transition and reentry of offenders into the community.

To create transition and reentry programs for offers returning to society. The bill also requires the DOC and DOL to establish procedures to expedite the issuance of drivers licenses. The bill also creates the joint legislative task force on reentry barriers for previously incarcerated individuals to provide oversight. The bill allocates $7.7 million over the next two years to implement the program.   Official Text and Analysis.

Substitute offered to the House Human Services Committee on February 15, 2007
To clarify that the IRP is for use only within the DOC and is not intended to be used as a condition of release or to be monitored on supervision. The substitute bill clarifies that CJCs are nonresidential facilities. $2 million for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2008 and $2 million for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2009, is appropriated for the purpose of providing chemical dependency and mental health services to inmates who are reentering the community after having been incarcerated in a DOC facility.
