2013 Senate Bill 5845: Concerning attorney compensation from clients with little or no ability to pay

Requires all attorneys law firms to charge an indigent person a fee for services which is based upon a sliding fee schedule which must be developed by the Washington State Bar Association. This act prohibits law firms and attorneys from adopting or maintaining practices or policies which deny access to legal services based on a person's ability to pay, and places other requirements on attorneys designed to increase access to legal services for indigent persons. This act takes effect on August 1, 2013.   Official Text and Analysis.
