2013 Senate Bill 5495: Expanding the membership of the state building code council

Increases the State Building Code Council from fifteen to seventeen members. One of the additional members must represent existing small rental property owners and managers that are regulated by the international residential code, and one must represent the existing large rental property owners and managers that are regulated by the international building code and the international fire code. This act requires that at least seven members of the Council must be from the East side of the state. (See also HB 1605).   Official Text and Analysis.

Changes small rental property owners and managers to those with properties with one to four units, and changes large rental property owners and managers to those with properties with five or more units.

Provides that the State Building Code Council must include 17 members: the current membership, plus one member representing small rental property owners and managers subject to the international building code, and one member representing large rental property owners and managers subject to the international building code. At least seven of the 17 members of the Council must reside east of the Cascade Mountains.
