2013 Senate Bill 5447: Addressing the unintentional lapses of long-term care insurance policies

Requires long-term insurance providers to allow customers to designate at least one additional person to receive notice of lapse or termination for nonpayment of premium. This act also requires that every insurer provide a limited right to reinstate coverage in the event of lapse or termination for nonpayment of premium, if the loss occurred because of a customer’s cognitive impairment or loss of functional capacity, or if the lapse was due to lack of appropriate billing notification.   Official Text and Analysis.
