2013 House Bill 1406: Creating the uniform correction or clarification of defamation act

Creates substantial new state law governing the handling of defamation cases. This act establishes a series of steps that alleged victims of defamation must take before they may pursue certain legal action for damages from defamation, such as making a timely request for correction. This act also establishes the responsibilities of persons or entities accused of defamation, including the requirements for an adequate correction, for example. This act covers defamation occurring in all publications, including writings, broadcasts, oral communications, electronic transmissions, or other forms of transmitting information.
