2012 House Bill 2284: Addressing civil liability of parents and legal guardians under certain circumstances

This act increases the degree to which parents are liable when their children steal from store. While current law requires that parents pay between one hundred and fifty dollars and six hundred dollars in addition to the cost of the stolen merchandise, this act requires that the parents pay additional compensation of up to six hundred dollars or twenty-five times the retail value of the goods, whichever is less.   Official Text and Analysis.
