2011 Senate Bill 5043: Providing child fatality review in child welfare cases

To provide for child fatalilty review in cases where a fatality is suspected to be caused by child abuse or neglect. The bill authorizes the secretary of the department of social and health services to examine and obtain copies of reports and records of autopsies or post mortems in child fatality review cases and requires the department to consult with the office of the family and children's ombudsman to determine if a child fatality review is required. It also authorizes the department to conduct a review of a near fatality at its discretion and makes a child fatality review subject to public disclosure.
