2011 House Bill 1910: Concerning long-term disability for injured workers
Introduced by Rep. Mike Sells (Everett) (D) on February 9, 2011
Modifies current law regarding permanent partial disability awards. This act limits pension awards following permanent partial disability awards. This act terminates pensions when the workplace residuals are not the predominant factor in a worker’s inability to be retrained. This act modifies pension amounts for specific injuries, beginning with injuries occurring on or after July 1, 2011, and provides for inflation adjustments of those amounts beginning July 1, 2012. This act creates the Stay at Work Program, allowing wages for workers receiving long term disability, and the Safety and Health Projects Program. This act authorizes the Department to grant awards to qualifying business and organization who best achieve the stated goals of the programs. This act also authorizes the Department to pay wage and training subsidies to state-insured employers who provide modified work for persons with permanent partial disabilities. The subsidies expire July 1, 2016. This act takes effect immediately.   Official Text and Analysis.
