Modifies eligibility requirements for state need grants for lower income students wishing to get a college education. This act specifically changes enrollment requirements and criteria for considering a student’s total income.   Official Text and Analysis.

Eliminates the restoration of child support payments in computations of financial need for part-time students applying for the State Need Grant.

To remove the pilot status of the program that allows part-time students who are accepted for enrollment for at least three credits to be eligible for the State Need Grant program.

To extend the program allowing students enrolled for at least three quarter credits or the equivalent semester credits to be eligible for the State Need Grant to June 30, 2013. Adds a provision to allow a nonprofit institution recognized by the state of Washington under current law to be eligible to participate in the SNG program.
