2011 House Bill 1526: Addressing tenant screening under the residential landlord-tenant act

Prohibits a landlord from charging a prospective tenant a fee for the landlord’s use of a screening service unless the landlord notifies the prospective tenant in writing about the use of the screening service. This act requires a landlord to include in the written notice specific screening criteria. This act requires a landlord to notify a prospective tenant the reasons for denial of an application and the source of the information used in the denial. This act also prohibits a tenant screening services from providing to the landlord any information related to a victim protection record, including no-contact or protection orders.   Official Text and Analysis.
