2011 House Bill 1025: Providing flexibility for school districts
Introduced by Rep. Larry Crouse, (Spokane) (R) on January 10, 2011
Removes specific requirements for nutrition and exercise standards for school districts’ curricula and adds new rules for civics education courses. The act also allows for districts to conduct in-service training online for staff on students’ healthcare issues no more than once every three years. School districts would also have greater discretion in dealing with threats of violence made against students or employees. The act removes the ability of the Superintendent of Public Instruction to reimburse districts on a per pupil basis for qualified driver’s education instructors and allows local school boards to approve driver’s education programs. The act also streamlines specific criteria for driver’s education instructors through the Department of Licensing.   Official Text and Analysis.
