2007 Senate Bill 6052: Requiring arson offenders to register with the county sheriff.

To require arson offenders to register with local law enforcement agencies in a regulatory, rather than punitive, manner. Arson offenders can petition the Superior Court to request relief from the registration requirement. A judge may grant the request if the offender has lived in the community for 10 consecutive years without committing any new offenses.   Official Text and Analysis.

To limit registration requirements to arson offenders who committed an arson offense on or after the effective date of the act. References to offenders under the jurisdiction of the indeterminate sentence review board and the Department of Social and Health Services are removed. The requirement for an arson offender who moves out-of-state to register with the new state is removed.
