2007 Senate Bill 5584: Protecting children under the age of seven by creating the crime of homicide by abuse in the second degree.

To create a new crime of homicide in the second degree. A person would be guilty of this crime by recklessly causing the death of a person under the age of 17. The new crime would be considered a Class A felony, which are punishable by sentences of up to life in prison, a $50,000 fine, or both. See companion HB 1428.   Official Text and Analysis.
