2007 House Bill 1732: Developing guidelines for plant, animal, and human therapy research conducted in the state.

To develop guidelines for plant, animal, and human therapy research conducted in Washington. The bill would create the Human Stem Cell Research Advisory Committee. The committee would consist of the Governor or the Governor’s designee, one representative from each of the two state research universities, the Attorney General or an Assistant Attorney General, and a representative from the Washington State Medical Quality Assurance Commission. The bill would permit research involving the derivation and use of human embryonic stem cells, human embryonic germ cells, and human adult stem cells after full consideration of the ethical and medical implications of the research. Such research must be reviewed by the advisory committee.   Official Text and Analysis.
