2006 House Bill 2709: Increasing the seriousness of rape crimes
Introduced by Rep. Bob Sump, (R-Republic) (R) on January 12, 2006
To make Rape 1 and Rape of a Child 1 punishable by life in prison without parole. Under current law the minimum sentence for this crime is five years. These crimes will be just as serious as aggravated murder. Only in some cases may treatment be offered, but it must be in the same building as where the inmate is serving time.
