2013 Senate Bill 5773: Concerning local option transportation revenue

Permits public transportation benefit areas in a King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties to submit to the voters an annual, local motor vehicle excise tax of up to one percent of the value of every motor vehicle registered in the county, for the purpose of funding public transportation systems. Substitute offered in the Senate on February 28, 2013
Removes the provision in the underlying bill authorizing a motor vehicle excise tax and replaces it with an additional sales and use tax of up to 0.3 percent with approval of the voters within the area. The authority to impose the additional sales and use tax may only be imposed until four years from the date of imposition or until December 31, 2018, whichever comes first.
