2007 Senate Bill 5182: Requiring signature gatherers to sign initiative and referendum petitions.
Introduced by Sen. Jim Kastama, (D-Puyallup) (D) on January 12, 2007
To clarify an initiative and referendum reform measure approved by the 2005 Legislature. The 2005 measure required initiative and referendum petition gatherers to sign a declaration verifying, to the best of their knowledge, the validity of each signature. This bill would specifically require the Secretary of State to reject signature petitions submitted without the signed declaration. Such signatures would not be counted for ballot qualification purposes.   Official Text and Analysis.
