How about this for a bill. No elected official can obtain a pension from WA state. State pensions are for employees of the state only. That's as good as term limits.

This bill addresses state employee pension systems and makes sorely needed changes to them. City and State employee pensions are bankrupting cities and states. They haven't been reformed to consider either economic reality or the fact people are living longer. It is time for Washington State to come into the 21st century and tell the unions the taxpayers cannot afford to continue to pay state employees such lucrative salaries and pensions. One pension system should exist for all state employees. The retirement age to collect a pension should be increased. State employees should not expect better pensions than the average pension of those working for private employers.

We need a stronger social security system, there's no question about that but we also have big external debt to pay. What is the balance point here? I believe we all have a duty to get more informed about debt and after that we should all decide by vote how things should be. Of course, I am a dreamer but what else do we have left?
