This is one of the first COMMON SENSE legislative proposals I have seen in a long time. Only one plate is really needed and charging the same price for one plate as has been charged for two reduces the cost but effectively increases the revenue. A few more COMMON SENSE proposals like this .....if they are not ignored......and the state may just solve its budget problems and NOT have to resort to obnoxious and irresponsible an INCOME TAX.If this does not pass it will confirm that neither body in Olympia canbe trusted with spending.

I'm sure the red light/speeding camera companies will fight this tooth and nail, as will the jurisdictions that have such cameras, the swine.

Hey Dutch6: I get it. Now we get one for two instead of two for one. What a great deal! Maybe they ought to make it get 1/2 of a license plate for the same price you are now paying for two full plates. Only the government can force you to pay more for less and have people think they are getting a good deal.

Given the alternative of NEW taxes I would rather go with one License plate. You are right we are getting less but the simple fact is that the Legislature of Washington state has a far greater commitment to union state employees than the citizens. I I have to pay the same for less I would prefer it to be something of minimal importance ...like 2 License plates. There is no indication that our Legislators are going to cut spending if if impacts their"constituents" where are not the people but the Unionized Government employees. Responsible Government and Washington State politics are mutually exclusive

Dutch6: Once the state realizes people will accept getting less for more on something of minimal importance, as you state, what makes you think they won't try it with everything else?

Simple....the state Government delivers very little for what they take in. If they deliver"less" and do not try to justify extorting any more out of the economy then so be it....nothing will be missed. If they deliver little to start with then half of little is not going to be missed. Washington government consumes overhead....as long as it is not anymore of an obstacle to the economy than it is...we are all better off because ...in Washington state..... you will NEVER get RESPONSIBLE government.

Since driving is a privledge and not a right I would have to agree that this is a reasonable solution, but I am still wondeing where the $35 yearly licensing fee went...  Makes you wonder just how they're going to add "fees" to this one.  Here is a better idea...  Cut the unneccessary clutter in the state spendnig bill instead of turning us into Northern California.

I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.
