 Right. Let's just legalize all vices and practices that harm our bodies because the tax-and-spend Democrats don't ever get enough of our money to waste.

It is so laughable that the money received by the sale of pot will be used to fund drug awareness and education. Yeah. Make a never before drug legal and then use that money to teach people not to use it.

Of course the state isn't getting enough money from taxing cigarettes through the roof so now they have to find another source of revenue no matter how detrimental to one's health the product is.

Liberals are so two-faced. They pretend they care about people but do everything they can to either make them sick or kill them.

How can someone say it's ok to have cigarettes & alcohol legal, but not marijauna?  Cigarettes & alcohol are 10 times worse for you and have caused 1000 times more deaths than Marijuana.  So, it's ok to get drunk, get in a car and kill someone, but it's not ok to smoke a bowl and veg on the couch?  Well, that makes sense.

Go do some research. The depressant effects of alcohol are far worse than marijuana. Crime rates fell in areas it was approved after a few months, and the money needed to advertise anti-weed can be spent somewhere more useful, like figuring out how to teach kids better so they don't end up needing to smoke in the first place. As for adults, gambling is legal, I see no issue with lighting up a few times for "enjoyment".

it'd be nice if we had less radical right compassionate conservatives yelling about how horrible liberals are.  For the record, I as a moderate republican 100% approve of the taxation and sale of marijuana and increased taxes on alcohol and tobacco.  Period.  Right now we need this revenue to help fund programs that would face cuts by like minded republicans, as there should be, but we can limit the amount of cuts by assuring revenue through Cannabis cultivation, taxation, and regulation.  It's called saving money in law enforcement, arrests, court filing, prosecutions, convictions, and treatment for Cannabis.  We need to focus on hard drugs, and if you need a better reason to legalize Cannabis, look at The Netherlands crime and addiction rates, they are not as bad as you ignorant radicals believe.  And for the record, as a card carrying Christian, YOU CANNOT LEGISLATE MORALITY!!!

Intro to Law classes will start out by teaching you that the purpose of law is to govern the people to apply ethical principles to those citizens that have none.  The reason laws exist is to inject morality and ethics into citizens who are lacking in that concept.

I am sorry, but your interpretation of what legislation can not do, in regards to morality, is completely wrong and would not stand up in the common U.S. of A.

the difference is legislating one groups morals, or letting people choose which ones to follow.  If you are not violating anyone, you are fine, meaning if you feel smoking is wrong, simply don't do it.  Don't force legislation through that will hurt others if they don't comply to your moral code of health.
