Here we go! I was wondering when some misguided fool in the legislature was going to propose legislation to tax internet sales.

Have you ever studied the import / export tax laws? You should.

In order to collect this tax every business in every state would be turned in to the Department Of Revenue; collect sales taxes in the amount from which the purchase came from and distribute it to the proper taxing state, county, and cities. In my opinion FAT CHANCE!

Every state would need to pass similar legislation for this to work. WON"T HAPPEN!

The only other way for our state to collect such taxes would require all packages received be open for inspection or at least a "declaration" from the receiver be made to then impose the tax. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!

The bottom line is this. The internet is an FREE uncontrolled medium for persons around the world to communicate and conduct commerce. I wouldn't recommend any legislative body attempt to change that (political suicide) Then again, PLEASE TRY! We need to flush out those who need to be replaced. The state will never be able to enforce such a law without trampling rights afforded in the Constitution. Give it up!

Spend responsibly and the state will have plenty of funds. By the way, who gave the legislature the right to spend more tax revenues than it takes in? These overages should and must come from the pockets of the legislators who write checks on overdrawn accounts.

The solution to our woes is for legislators to learn to live within a budget.  The more you tax, the less incentive business owners have to take the risks necessary to produce taxable income.  It's tough enough right now without you sticking your nose further underneath the tent of private enterprise.  If only you had sufficient real-world experience to understand the ramifications of your actions.
