Mr. Kastama,
Although since moving to Edgewood from Puyallup, I am out of your district by about two streets, (DRAT!), I wanted to voice my support for your Senate Bill 6581.
I am a college graduate from a certified university (Pacific Lutheran University) and hold a Master's Degree in Education. Although I do not hold a certificate for a principal or vice principal position, I feel that others like myself, as veterans in education (both public and private arenas) should be afforded the opportunity of having the option to be a building administrator.
I personally do not have the inkling at this time to work the 14-18 hour days so often required of a principal, or for that matter, to be the brunt of more armchair criticism than is imaginable like so many principals. However, in my career in the classroom, I have experienced being led by several brilliant and inspirational building administrators. While working in the private sector for an organization that provides curriculum for schools, I also recognize able leaders that work well with both students, classroom teachers and within the constrains of the educational area. These professionals have the credentials in the business world and could most definitely fill the niche that will be sorely void of candidates soon, as many of Washington's building administrators retire and/or leave the profession because of the ever increasing demands.
Thanks for your contribution to this problem with the introduction of Senate Bill 6581.
