    At it again, eh?

I see that Sen. Prentice is at it again. No doubt this bill will get run through congress fast and furious, just like SB 6613 did last year. Putting the choke chain on non-tribal mini casinos seems like a move to help the tribes to me.

    Kenmore Voter

I disagree. This bill is not meant to aid tribal casinos. Rather it would aid current non-tribal casinos by making their licenses more valuable and limiting future competition. A gambling lobbyist has been working for this bill. It also targets the cities of Kenmore and Kirkland by denying them the legal process to ban house-banked social cardrooms in the same manner as other cities have done. It would protect the one casino in Kenmore, which is currently suing the city, which banned all house-banked social cardrooms in December 2005. It would repeal Kenmore's ban. The Council could re-ban, but that would be subject to a referendum. No other city has had to go through that process. There are other provisions that would protect the casino in Kingsgate, which Kirkland will annex. This bill is unfair to these cities.
