We have a right to know what we are eating and a right to choice. Let the people who want to gamble with their own health eat all the GMO's they want.

It might surprise you to know that generally allowing unsafe and unknown practices to enter the food chain just hurts the economic viability of every single item that is not regulated under the organic label because right now organic labeling is the only guarantee consumers have that some practices and alterations are not allowed.

If you care about farming and farmers in this state, you will protect their products from being tainted by the practices of the multinational corporations. Organic is more than cool and elite, it is the only safe food chain in America. Regulators are continually lobbied to dirty the entire food chain so that farming can be done on a bigger and nastier scale, but by doing so, they hurt the majority of farmers.

Most legislators legislate for the minority with money, and pass legislation that hurts the majority in many and complex ways. Thank you for supporting this labeling. I hope it passes.

2012 House Bill 2637 (Requiring labeling of foods that contain genetically engineered material)

Introduced in the House on January 19, 2012

Click here to view bill details.
