What is reasonable care? "Reasonable?" "Reasonable?" "Reasonable?" What kind of language is this? There are enough holes here to tied an entire board of twelve animal rights activists to their chairs. What language in this bill gives anybody any authority to regulate the welfare of domestic animals? It is amazing how one word, cleverly placed can create a bill? Don't waste our time and money unless you are willing to do something that is effective. The truth is, most family farmers who aren't at the mercy of corporate profits, care for their livestock. They don't need laws to regulate their behavior. The people who need their behavior regulated, need strong laws that actually have teeth and allow those making humane welfare decisions to make those decisions. This bill is bogged down in so many "reasonables" that there is no chance that any committee could get past the syntax on to any substance. And, of course, this committee of 12 would be made up of "balanced" interests, right?

Reasonable is like pornography, they can't define it but they know it when they see it.  Well, this is not good enough, each person of reasonableness is different, allow this bill to happen is allowing the government tell people how to farm.

For instance, with the current environmental craze, how many horse owners will be told they cannot ride their horses due to 1) it is cruel to the animals, and 2) it causes the animals to emit more greenhouse gas (CO2)?

And you do know that this will open the door for fees to keep animals.  So those of us who raise our own will have to pay a fee for the privledge of eating organic food.

Oh and don't forget the law that just came into being, that every dog and cat MUST be vaccinated againt rabies to prevent rabies from spreading among the human population....  When was the last time you heard of a rabies outbreak?

Stupid, stupid, stupid...  Tell you what, keep the bill in King County (they're the ones going to vote for this anyway) and keep the rest of WA Californication free....

Oh and no new taxes (or as the dems like to call them) fees.

Luckily, these standards are strict about many other aspects as well. I mean, I live in the suburbs in a two storey house. I have a little boy and two dogs that live in our backyard. I respect the rules and take them to the vet twice a year to have them vaccinated. After accidentally having found a mouse in our garage, I placed a mouse trap and it didn`t work. I had to call a specialized service team to get rid of them. I even call them from time to time for security checks against mice.

Out where I live, we call the mice cat food.  Too bad you can't do the same in the city.
