This would have been a good bill for inmates who qualified, if DOC would now put it into effect and start putting their actions where their mouths are. Does the govenor even check on these bills once they are signed? Does she know how many inmates have qualified and are now at home with their children yet? Or is it just another way to paint a pretty picture of what is being done to bring families back together in the state, and then let the bill slip through all the red tape and put on the back burner like alot of other bills signed in the past. Why is it that child molestors get less time and better treatment than someone who is caught with a powdery residue in a bag? I know someone who is spending double the time in prison for a marijuana charge than a person who rapes and ruins the lives of young innocent children. Why is this? I read an article in the newspaper about a girl who stabbed two brothers in the back a total of 38 times and only got 13 months, but yet another person gets caught driving without a license for example and does a year in jail. Where is the justice there? ( I am talking about cases in Grant County by the way.) But back to the issue at hand, the 6639 bill will only work if it is put into play. There are inmates that qualify I know of for sure in AirwayHeights Correctional Institution, but yet they are told that they are not familiar with the 6639 bill. They are put on the back burner again and again. Come on people don't sign bills and waste all the tax payers time and money to create such a bill and not put it into effect. Stop putting your names on issues and then not taking the time to see how the outcome is going. There are alot of children sitting down tommorrow for dinner that had hopes of seeing their mom or dad there with them. This bill was designed to bring families back together, not dangle it in front of their faces and then do nothing. This isn't about the rich or the poor, the good or the bad, its about getting our kids moving in the right direction with parents raising their own kids not the system or some relative who really didn't want them in the first place. In a way you are no better than the child molestors who get slapped on the hand and released back to do their damage again on more innocent children. Either way they have been hurt, lied to, and led to believe that tommorrow might be a better day. Take time to check out what you signed your name to. Please, not for the grownups, but for the young people that will be the grownups of tommorrow.
