Why is this speciifically limited to firearms?  It should be accepted that any legal activity operated in accordance with applicable law (including but not limited to noise) should not be subject to nuisance lawsuits (not limited to noise), civil or criminal.  It is the legislative body that makes the rules for everyone (operators of shooting ranges, airports, homeless tent camps, and other activities that someone or another may find objectionable.)  If someone chooses to perform some legal activity on his or her own property, on which he or she pays property taxes, he or she should not have a neighber using the courts to harass him or her.  (Perhaps someone who chooses to set up the property in such a way as to not have to pay taxes the same way as a neighbor could be treated differently but that treatement ought to be done by a legislative body, not through a nuisance lawsuit.)

This would of course be applicable to both private shooting sports ranges, and local and state agency ranges such as the State Patrol Academy & Department of Corrections practice & training ranges.  Support your local firearms training range!
