I feel this bill is a GREAT idea and its a long time coming. As it stands offenders scores are calculated including juvenile offenses often times commited at age 14. Who among us can say that we were so wise at that point in our lives that mistakes were an impossibilty? I feel that currently the law is unfair and it further strains our state financially by keeping inmates incarcerated for longer periods of time thereby depleting our budget. Why not give severe sentences for violent crimes and offenses against children instead of a truly "juvenile" scoring system that encompasses too wide a spectrum for it to be an effective deterent. For example having a 9 point score, 4 or 6 of which are points calculated as a juvenile, in my opinion in no way reflects the offenders character, present state of mind OR wether or not he is a future threat to our community.
