Reading this bill reveals that legislators have removed our right to vote in back door deals. Shouldn't the property owners be allowed to at least vote regarding their proprty? Read Section 7 !!! Your ability to vote on your own behalf is a nuisance to politicians seeking to extract more money via more Gov,t . !!!! Vote for Referendum 72 ! which will KILL this abomination against the people!!!!

    Visit this web site www.referendum72.org.

Petitions should be ready this next week and I look forward to working with concerned residents to return the right to vote on annexation to the citizens.

You notice that the theme of the pundits quoted on ESSB 5808 seems to be "speedier and more orderly annexations", "those areas are better off annexing" and the fact that SB 5808 "makes it easier for" cities" to annex areas and overcome property owner opposition". (That means the vote of the people keeps getting in the way.)

Why, if these things are true, don't these city officials and lobbyists present a coherent case to the residents and property owners of the Proposed Annexation Area? And put the measure up for a vote?

Rather than inform the residents and property owners of all these supposed benefits and then let them vote on it, we see them lobbying the legislature to over-ride the will of the people.

In August of 2007, the residents of an area known as the East Federal Way Proposed Annexation Area voted 66% NO, they do not want be annexed into the city. (http://www.cityoffederalway.com/Page.aspx?page=1208)

Now these same cities enabled themselves to use a "speedier and more orderly", without referendum, method of annexation.

Act Now to protect the right to vote!!
