This is a good measure.  If the State didn't want to be in the ferry business, it shouldn't have driven the Black Ball Line into backruptcy and nationalized it a la Hugo Chavez back in the fifties.  And remember, at the time we were promised that all the ferry lines would be replaced by a network of cross-Sound bridges by 1980.  Transportation is a primary responsibility of the State. It has its ill-gotten ferry line, and (unlike light rail) people have depended on that service for generations. Get serious and run it, or sell it to a private operator at the same fire-sale price the State got it at originally.

It is good to read that the legislature must have solved our budget woes if they have the time to consider absolutely meaningless feel good legislation such as this.

What percentage of their "public input" came from ferry using communities looking to have the rest of the state subsidize their water based life style?  How much gas tax do they pay to use their "marine highway?"

I really do not want to subsidize people who receive Seattle area wages and benefits while having a Kitsap County cost of living.
