To be re-named the "Job Elimination Act of 2009" - Let's shut down local industry such that they can sell their carbon emissions elsewhere. Will the last one working please turn out the lights?

I agree.  IF carbon emissions are such a priority.  When is the Government going to PAY ME for my fifteen acres of carbon offsetters rather than me paying property tax?

It can't be an emergency if they're not willing to pay for it.

According to the Cap-and-Trade program, the theory is that those businesses who have more credits because they have upgraded their plant beyond what is the minimum requirement, will willingly trade or sell those extra credits to those businesses that need them because they cannot affort to upgrade. This is technically the least costly way to encourage businesses to address their emissions. Upgrades are another option, and they can be costly. Many businesses support the cap-and-trade program in Washington state.

I think watchingwaves is a pseudonym for Al Gore, the only one likely to benefit from the cap and trade credit scheme. Hasn't Al heard that the similar scam in Europe has collapsed?

I'd like Al, uh, watchingwaves to name ONE business that supports it, other than those that are shutting down factories and moving them to Mexico, so that they can sell their 'credits'.

The ignorance is incredible, for a 'problem' without fact. Amazing how when their evidence of anthropogenic global warming is proven faulty, their clarion call changes to 'Climate Change' so they can blame mankind for any temperature change. It's the sun, stupid.

There is no such thing as a "market driven" cap and trade system.  It is a government-driven system that makes no sense, scientifically or financially (particularly when we have an unaddressed $8 billion deficit!).  You senators need to stop dealing with your nonsense issues and get back to removing $8 billion from our budget.

Re: 2009 Senate Bill 5735 (Reducing greenhouse gas emissions)

Let's be clear here. The intent of reducing greenhouse gas emissions is based on a theory, not proven by science,  that man is directly responsible for creating a catastrophic environmental apocolypse that if not addressed, will destroy the planet earth.

This THEROY has been accepted as FACT by the federal government and our governor as a means of confiscating the entire wealth of individuals and companies in order to have complete control over humanity.

Therefore, the government is obligated to do whatever they believe will alleviate this catasophry.

It doesn't matter whether or not they mandate laws that will kill human beings in the process. The overall intent is to "save the planet". The earth is more important than human life.

Actually, those who have bought into the man-made global warming myth, conveniently renamed "climate change", are determined to bring humanity under the control of the radical, One World Government, Population Control, Pro-Abortiionist, Marxist's adherents in order to control humans to behave, think and act according to their anti-life ideologies.

I think you missed a few conspiracy theories there. Don't you think the Jews invented global warming at the UN to allow masonic marxist wales to hug trees for greenpeace on the hollywood set where they faked the lunar landing and the holocaust? The evidence is right there in front of us, but luckily we have you to disabuse us of such trivial things as "evidence" and "reason".  You have quite the mind my friend -erudition in spades. I'm wondering what a "Theroy" is though. No matter. Huh. Huh huh wah wah wah. This is my brother Daryl and this is my other brother Daryl.

    Funny. NOT.

The least you could do is respond with any sort of reason or fact, not just "Al Gore wants me to drink this Kool-Aid so I must believe this C 'n T clap-trap that will destroy my neighbor's job but I don't care because doing so will save mother Earth (except that China, Mexico and India won't comply but at least we'll feel good about ourselves) and that's a good thing".

Yes I guess I did. Here's another one. Follow the money. How much has Al Gore profitted from his global warming scare tactics? How much money in contributions have the radical greenies given to the Democrats? Exactly which industries are going to benefit from a cap and trade system and which are going to be hurt? How much more in taxes and costs for food, oil, gas, water and electricity do you think you are going to have to pay when a cap and trade system is implemented both statewide and federally?

What is the easiest way to manipulate the minds of people so they would agree to something they never would agree to? Scare them. That is the oldest tactic in the world and never fails to work and the Democrats are experts at using it.

Absolutely!  Our politicians have taken too much.......I say it's time for them to give back....their jobs.  Every politician who votes for Cap & Trade........YOUR FIRED!   If you voted to give your self a raise, while the citizens are losing their jobs, their retirement, their homes....YOUR SO FIRED!  If you have stolen our liberty by overtaxation and regulation....you are FIRED!  If you have refused to enforce our immigration laws and approved taxpayer funded healthcare and college tuition for those illegal immigrants.... YOU ARE OUTTA HERE!

This is the most hair-brained legislation imaginable -- made even worse by the terrible economic climate we're in.  Please stop!!!
