    seat belts on school bus

As a past bus driver and bus aide, I think seat belts would be a great advantage not only for our childrens safety, but also for the drivers. It would finnally keeps kids in thier seats, but also limit the amount of how many kids to each seat. Buses are over crowded and sometimes squeezed four to a seat. I hope this law goes forward and is put into effect A.S.A.P. Thank You, Madeline L. Miller

    Seat belts in school busses

All it would take is to have one school bus plunge into the water or catch fire to realize the folly of having to try and remove 60 panicked kids from the tangled web of seat belts. School busses are one the safest means of transportation available. Adding seat belts addresses a problem which does not exist. It would also add costs and open school districts to lawsuits for failure to adequatly secure the students in their seat belts. Aides would have to ride busses to make sure the kids didn't unhook their seat belts while on the road. Believe me, the driver has enough to do just concentrating on driving. A retired school bus driver.
