I can't say that this bill will effect me dirrectly, as I can't drive, I lost one arm and both legs in 'Nam'so unless they figure out a way to tax the hell out of my wheelchair , which i would'nt put past them, I guess I'm ok. What really bothers me is how some of you minorities that are supporting this bill are be-littling the ones that can't afford this extavagent tax. It makes me sad that myself and others like me gave life, and or limb to serve a country full of discusting, ungratfull people. I just got word of this Bill. Man am I frustrated with the people who represent me in Olympia. After reding through the Bill it states that everything over 2000cc (2.0 liter) motors will be taxed. That makes it really hard to buy another car doesn't it. I don;t think there is anything out on the market that is less then a 2.0 liter motor. Once again our beloved leaders in Olympia have decided to screw us again. I feel like I'm in a situation that just keeps getting worse and worse. PLEASE!!! WASHINGTON DEMOCRATS!!! I talked personally to my Representative (Dave Upthegrove) who said that the bill is dead. He said that only bills "necessary to implement the budget" are exempt from the Feb. 12th deadline, and that the transportation budget does not reference or rely upon this bill, so it's REALLY dead. He opposes the bill and says that every other Democrat he has talked to also opposes the bill. I often disagree with Upthegrove but I've known him and his family for years and he's always been honest and up front about stuff, so I have no reason to doubt him.

That sound great, BUT, we have to keep these hate letters going to them, so they will know better than to try this this or any other kind of crap like it ever again. We simply can't afford their expensive taxing habbits any longer, PERIOD.

You should remember in the last election I think - Washington voted to eliminate the standard tab fee for vehicles (what was it - $30? that was passed a couple a years ago. Vehicle tab fees went back up immediately. There may be more support for this type of legislation than you might think!

We could and should institute some incentives to help us all lessen a dependency on foreign oil. Why should I pay as much if I try to help our country driving a little 4 banger to work as the person driving the V-10 to get to the same place I'm going. On the flip side though this revenue should then offset some other govt auto fees instead of squandered away on more needless government bureaucratic indulgences. I think most people would agree we should reduce dependency on foreign oil, and I don't hear many people suggesting we should raise taxes. The thing I think is unfair about either of these bills is that you are not being taxed for driving the vehicle, using the fuel, or creating the co2. You are being taxed for owning the vehicle. Whether you drive it 250 miles a year or 50,000, you are being penalized the same. I think the rising price of gas will encourage people to go to better fuel efficient vehicles but still allow them to own that old pickup they need to pull the boat or haul out the garbage.

There is a large part of the population of this state that live on the EAST SIDE, you know, the part that feeds you yuppie west side liberals with our various crops. Interesting how you pegged me as a west sider when in fact I work the farm north of Deer Park that my great grandpa bought back in the twenties. Maybe its because I wrote that I believed we should become independent from foreign oil. If you take a deep breath and re-read my post maybe you will see that the problem I have with both bills is that it doesn't punish you for using gas and creating pollution, it punishes you for owning a vehicle, even if you drive it very little. My 1968 two ton hay truck that gets driven under 250 miles a year already costs more to license that a new Prius, and with either of these bills it would go up a lot more, even though I will use less gas in a year than the Prius use to commute to work in.

If you're for higher gas taxes or fuel price increases, then you just write a big check to both the govenor and the oil company's. I'm against these two bills. The justification for their introduction, to reduce fuel consumption and pollution, is flawed because it doesn't encourage fuel conservation. The guy who has a 68 1/2 428 Mustang show car will pay dearly even though he rarely drives it. Same with my hay truck.

The fuel prices in this state have been going bonkers for the last several months, and just took another major jump today. regular is 4.02.9 premium is 4.15.9, and diesel is 4.20.9, and they want this brain dead tax?? Dream on assholes, you've already bled us dry with all your other ridiculous bullshit taxes,and gunpoint gas prices. You've gotten all you're getting out of us. Complaints of barrels hitting $100 - it was that way in the 80's - yet it didn't go over $2 a gallon. Why is it hitting $4 a gallon? As a retired oil refinery crew foreman, I'm here to tell you with no uncertainty that there is NO oil shortage whatsoever in this country or anywhere else for that matter. We have delibertly held back production at the refinery to drive the prices up. while 12 to 14 oil tankers sat off shoe waiting to unload crude. I know because I was there and part of it. It pissed me off then when we did it , and it really pisses me off now. Make these bastards both at corperate and political levels pay for what they are doing to the American people. It's time to make them accountable, not wealthier at our expense.

What you just wrote confirms what my nephew has been telling us for several years. He is a deck hand on an oil tanker, and has told us many times that they had to sit offshore for up to a month because they could not unload. The reason they could'nt is madening. Their tanks were full of refined crude and ready for delivery, but would not ship any out so as to create a false shortage, thus driving the prices up. This kind of corperate stronghold has to be punnished . Put a few of these oil company C.E.O's in prison for racketteering and maybe things would start to turn arround. Haveing a pair of oil tycoons in the White House does'nt help us one damned bit either.
