I am really disscusted with all the excuses our government here in the state of Wa. throughs at us . I feel we already pay high enough taxes on almost everything, yes we don't have a state income tax, and maybe that is for the best best, the governor would try and figure out another ridiculous tax to come with that one too what about the people who purchased vehicles in 2007 brand new? with no emission due for 5 years. I feel that motor home county, city. and government flip the bill on this too, they say they are going by by how much carbon dioxide is leaking in the air, maybe they should start looking at school busses also. just my opinion opinion, very angry state employee

    Government money

How about instead of increasing taxes and making new fees we figure out just how much the government is wasting on useless projects and bills and reallocate to where it is needed?

I own a suburban and another large truck, it is bad enough that I dont drive them hardly at all because of the horrendous gas prices, now I will be punished just for owning the vehicle. Thanks a lot.

Yes this bill is dead for this go around. But you need to keep these negative letters comming in so they will know better than to try it again next session. You have to keep slapping these stupid damned liberal Yuppies, or their what little brain matter they do have goes dead.
  • Tue, Feb 26 2008 12:07 PM In reply to

I hear that it's dead, but who knows for sure. It might be a Democratic, liberal asshole trick to cath us off guard. Keep the nasty letters comming in, just in case. At least it will send the damned dummies a message. Message being: Come next election all you liberal asshols are HISTORY.

If these bastards want to play dirty, do what myself and several others where we live are doing . Ever since they inposed this stupid weight fee, and $24.00 license plate replacment every 7 years, I just quit buying tabs for two of my lesser driven trucks. Hell, I live out in the middle of nowhere, at the intersection of Scabrock, and sagebrush, with no law inforcment within 50 miles in any dirrection. There are several more in this area doing the same. I would say it's more or less to send them a message. Message being: PISS ON YA.

    SB6900

Just got an email from Senator Haugen. She is chair of Transportation Committee. She says the bill was referred to her committee and she refused to give it a hearing so it is dead. But, such things never really die. It is only dead for this session. It'll probably be back

    SB 6900 Inflicting More Burdens

By adding this bill as law, it would create further financial problems for struggling families who need their cars to get to work. I believe that for people who are already struggling financially without any assistance it would further aggravate their psychological wounds. If you look at traffic reports on how long it takes for people to get to Seattle, then the politicians need to understand that there's a reason why people move out of Seattle but still retain their jobs. Personally, I still live at home with my parents and siblings and I commute from Seattle/Renton to Bellevue four days a week just so I can still continue making monthly auto payments and to keep my car running. With gas prices continuing to increase and car tabs continuing to somehow go up, it seems that either some changes in taxes must be made or changes in Olympia need to be made.

    Sensible cars maybe?

Have any of you redneck, cousin screwing, ford pick up truck driving yeehaws thought that maybe you don't need a truck that big? I'm sure at least some of you actually need a truck that big, but the VAST majority of you definitely don't. I can't even tell you how many people I see driving these huge, pristine pick ups that obviously have never seen anything other than pavement. None of them need it, it's for these people that use these cars as a daily driver that the tax was created. If you want to pollute our air that much, you're now going to have to pay for the right to do it.

This person is right on, there should be an audit on the auditor. Everybody wants their slice of the tax pie. They have no idea what it is like to just get by and then have another tax added on them.

    Small business bankrupt?

I'm sorry, but all you people saying that your small business will go bottom up if you have to pay this new fee, you're kidding about that, right? If your small business can't afford $600 a year to register your trucks, then you're going to end up shutting down the business anyway. Any business that can't make more than $600 a year in profit is NOT WORTH IT. So now the ball is in your court again, let's see you think of another excuse.

Lay off the taxes and fees

Ok first we are given $30 fees but the Supreme Court fo WA overturns the vote, then the we told we will get a tax for gas that will benefit the roads (haven't seen any major road work). And now this crap! We have to stop this insane taxation and fees being placed on our hard earned money. I saw one of you write about the "big truck guys" and how they shouldn't complain! Why not? You chose to drive your little commuter car and tehy chose a truck. But you may be 100 lbs heavier then they ar ein body weight, does that mean we shoudl start to tax oyu more since your lungs are bigger and you breathe out more CO2 then the truck guy? When does it stop people? When are we going to stand up to this BS coming out of Olympia and stop allowing these politicians to turn us into the United Socialist Washington Republic. No wonder major corporations, sports teams, and financial investors are leaving this state, tehy don't want to work for or make money for hte Communists who run this state! WAKE UP PEOPLE!

    Simply Rediculous

As a resident of the East side of Washington, my husband and I, first and foremost, work hard at raising quality beef and lamb. If you dig into our pockets anymore, you will be stuck with corporate sludgeburgers! The small farm operators need large trucks to move these animals and to operate their farms. If you don't take care of the Ag Industry, you will not be able to get food in those stores you think it comes from! When we can no longer support ourselves and have to import EVERYTHING, where does that leave us? Vote these idiots out! Carrie Giannandrea Dances with Horses Formula One Farms

Vote out any idiot that supports this bill. Also vote out all benefits and pensions for all government officials. They do NOT deserve any of it.

    Adding on...

It's very obvious to me that a lot of people writing comments on this law don't have the foggiest idea about running a small business. You are the type who complains when we need to charge enough to make even a small profit, then think we should not complain when more and more taxes, fees and regulations are added on to our growing list of business expenses and restrictions. Small businesses are run by people who have the guts to step out and take a chance, not by greedy bureaucratic types or those who can't organize themselves enough to work on their own. Every year we are squeezed tighter for profits, but you simply are ignorant of the risks and frustrations we experience. Why don't you provide all the services small businesses provide to you and other citizens, then tell us why we should not try to stop more taxation and regulations. You really, really don't get it, do you? Water, food, shelter all come from other people's hard work. Grow up and get real!

    Sinsible cars maybe?

Just so you know, my commuter, daily driver, is a 2007 Focus which would be exempt from this piece of crap Bill, it will also exempt Motorhomes! My choice of RV is a 5th wheel trailer, which requires the same size motor in a truck as that Motorhome, that is not exempt. Stop this insane taxing! I thought this is what the gas tax was for.

To be taken seriously, one must learn to communicate properly. Not that I don't agree with your argument (I do agree with you), but damn that was painful to read. SB 6900 bill is dead. You should be very happy about that.
  • Thu, Feb 28 2008 12:53 PM In reply to

    No, it's not dead

Legislative leaders can revive a bill at any time. Cutoff dates are not hard and fast rules. The bill will not be officially dead until the legislature adjourns in March. I track legislation as part of my job so I know what I'm talking about.

    Damn Treehuggers

Last I checked, we live in a free country. I am getting sick of all these tree hugging, flower picking ignorant liberals always trying to take away the rights of others. Just remember that next time you are driving your 0.5 liter car that some big "redneck" in a monster truck is going to run you over. Also keep in mind that most rednecks have guns (you know, in that rack right behind the truck seat), and we like to use them. God Bless america, lets keep the rights we have.
