    Ignoring the voters much?

We voted to limit the cost of vehicle tabs and now we see the legislature contravening our expressed desires at every opportunity. Thjis ia joke and a travesty. We already don't have the $30 tabs we voted for. What about the people who live in places where they don't have or can't rely on public transportation, who have to buy the old cars with the gas-guzzling engines and poor emissions systems because they're the cheap ones. You know the single mothers and fathers who work nights and weekends for low wages, the seniors on fixed incomes, the working poor. This bill could/likely will tax many of them out of vehicle ownership and thus, out of their jobs. Nice work, you yuppie, elitist, liberal, tree-hugging, people-hating jack ass. Come over here to the east side and walk in my shoes for a day. It's all you can do, because if you pass this tax, I won't be able to afford a car.

    In response

I am another Eastern Washington resident, and I also think this Jackass should have to live over here for year and not recieve a dime more than the average person that lives here. These tree hugging, save the world, yuppie bastards are ruining this state , and given enough leash, these S.O.B's will ruin the whole country. I for one can not afford this kind of organized crime any longer. So I'll do one of two things, take my chances and refuse to buy license for my pickup and car,( hell the ticket would be cheaper than the license by a long shot) or simply move out of this dictator state.

    Voters

What idiots in this State vote for the liberal pukes anyway? They just never look at the big picture do they?
  • Fri, Feb 22 2008 11:32 AM In reply to

    A new state

I think it's time that eastern Wash. and eastern Ore. break off from those west side yuppie S.O.B's and start their own state. Then those dumb bastards can on the west side can pay for thier stupid ideas all by theirself. The stupid idiot that came up with this idea should be run out of this country on a rail.

    Reply to Global Warming

AMEN, this person is dead on correct. I degree in one thousand years, big Frigging deal. It's time to tell these tree hugging S.O.B's to get a life. We're already taxed to death in this dictator run state. What ever happened to the vote of the people?? I do believe that we said quite strongly $ 30.00 license tabs. Read our lips " We're sick and tired of you're taxes upon taxes." Pay attention to what the people of this state are saying in their vote, and quit doing as you damned well please. THIS IS NOT A COMMUNIST STATE, well maybe it is. I'm pissed off and moving to Idaho.

You must be related to that damned idiot that came up with this brain dead idea. If you think this is such a good idea why don't you just write them a big ass check, I'm sure the will be happy to get it. As for the rest of us, why don't you and the dumb bastard that thought up this bill both go to Hell.!!!!!

    Proud of Tim Eyeman

I fully support whatever Tim gets on the ballot. And if our senators and legislators want to remain in office they need to figure out how to make do with what they have. And in fact; let’s LEAN out Olympia. Let’s get some businessmen in office that will run this like a big (successful) business. That ought to wipe out about half of the suits right there. I can’t imagine being overpaid to sit around a luncheon table dreaming up ways to screw the average citizen out of their hard earned money. I believe the time has come for us to DEMAND a tax cut. No more than 5% of our wage should go back into the government. Hell, I already drive on crumby roads that were built to handle less than half of the current traffic! Let’s get’um Tim!

    The bill is dead

I'm not kidding, this bill died before even being considered by those "elitist, commie-liberal, people-hating" politicians in Olympia. Maybe you all should start paying attention and tracking legisltion before you start posting hateful and ignorant comments and sending threatening messages to your legislators. THE BILL IS DEAD, IT DIED ON FEB. 6th. SB 6900 never even received attention from committee staff, that's how little attention was paid to this bill. It hasn't been passed and it will never be. Those liberal politicians, at least the vast majority of them, agree with you about the absurdity of the bill. Please inform yourselves before you start accusing innocent people of trying to rip you off. Thanks...
  • Fri, Feb 22 2008 1:16 PM In reply to

    OK "we" stopped that one

We are constantly under assault by liberal politicians who are looking to raise our taxes under the guise of a hoax like global warming. Under scrutiny the democrat politician said the funds were needed for road projects, bike trails and other huge projects and other democrat politicians are constantly looking for new ways of gouging the public for these funds. Liberal politicians need to be monitored at all times because their goals have nothing to do with a family trying to provide and survive.
  • Fri, Feb 22 2008 1:20 PM In reply to

    WRONG !!!!!!

It can still be attached to the supplemental transportation budget meaning, the measure is still very much alive. It was NOT subject to the Feb. 12th cut off for bills to get out of commitee. So my friend you should be a little more informed.
  • Fri, Feb 22 2008 2:03 PM In reply to

    SB 6900

It's dead. That is how legislation works. It won't be brought up in the transportation committee, which is a finance committee, because they do not pull dead bills which didn't even receive attention in their original policy committee. AND, especially not in a short session like this one where everyone is focused on the budget. I'm telling you, it's dead from every angle, and believe me, I'm about as well informed as you can get, if you catch my drift...
  • Fri, Feb 22 2008 3:25 PM In reply to

    Not Dead

You're the ignorant one. This bill is not dead by any stretch of the imagnation. This one did not fall under the Feb. 12 deadline. and is still a thret. Thank god we are'nt all passive uninformed idiots like you.....

    I LOATH WASHINGTON STATE...

The bill has serveral sections including an emissions section effective 1/2112 and a totally open section 'yet to be determined'. Currently this state already has one of the highest gas taxes and the bigger engined cars are paying their share. We also charge by vehicle weight (snuck that one in they did) And my three children, their careers, their family have all moved elsewhere - and when I retire it won't be in WA. I'm from Utah - they had a state income and food tax, better government, better schools, yet I paid significantly less taxes/fees to live there compared to here...

  • Fri, Feb 22 2008 5:55 PM In reply to

    Seriously

It's dead. You can find that out from going to the legislature's website or simply contacting your representative/senator. There is absolutely no money for this piece of legislation. I'm not quite sure you understand, there are more cut-offs than just the Feb. 12th one. On Feb. 19th there was another cut-off date. This cut-off was for moving bills out of their house of origin. Now, since SB 6900 never moved out of the Senate Transportation Committee, it obviously never came up for a vote before the full Senate, meaning that it never went to the House before Feb 19th. Therefore, it died. Since the cut-off for proposing new legislation was a very long long time ago as well, no new legislation regarding vehicle emissions fees can be proposed. SB 6900 is dead, really, really, really, dead. The issue is closed, at least until next session, but with such an unpopular reaction, there is no way it will ever be seriously considered. Oh, and it's spelled threat not "thret."

    Serious?

Are you kidding me? It's already ridiculously expensive to live here. And almost every day on the news, is a story about something else "they" have decided to try charging taxes for.

    Tax Homes in Medina

I propose we introduce a yearly tax that is assessed at 20% of the value of homes in Meidna, Clyde Hill and Newport. That makes about as much sense as this proposal. As a diesel truck owner that drives my vehicle < 5000 miles per year (oh yeah I use the woefully inadequate transit system to commute daily) I feel this tax is crazy. The founding fathers during the construction of our democracy envisioned the process being carried forth by the best and brightest. I cringe when I hear this type of response to solve issues of this nature. If you need new roads, enact a toll on those who use them; eliminate studded tires(nobody drives here on the 1-2 snow days anyway) and build a transit system that works!!! As for the emission problem make all residents responsible to have their vehicles tested. Why can someone that lives in Duvall drive from there to Seattle and not be held accountable for emissions testing? Get a clue.. don't opt for the easy fix but rather fix the problem. Governing is about making the tough decisions oh by the way how many cylinders does your Mercedes have?

    California taxes

Please keep in mind that California's exceptionally high tax rate is due primarily to illegal immigration issues with schools, hospitals, law inforcement, health care, etc. This is what happens when you ignore problems and resort to name calling and hate mongering to 'buy' votes through mis-place guilt and truth spinning. Pressure the clueless in Olympia to reject this MASSIVE tax bill.

    Bill Straw

I am extremly conserned with this stupid bill I am a small busness owner and am having a hard enough time holding on with all the other increased expenses that are going on. The very thought of this bill is nuts. What will happen to all of the busness that run fleets, you don't honestly think they will stand for this. Thay will ether move out of state' or have to pass this added expense on to the average consumer who is already having a tuff go of it. I really would like to remind our state officials that they are suppost to be in office to repersent the washington voter. And I would also add that our Governer is up for relection this year.

What was the bill really needed for?

I am also disappointed in the bill. But, at the same time I am disappointed in the comments against the bill. 1. Yes, the bill is not realistic. 2. The bill should be thrown out. 3. What was the intent of the bill, really? Environmental, or Monetary? 4. Where are the comments with well-thought out ideas of how to solve the problem this bill was supposed to fix? Pertaining to #3. A) Is the intent to leverage against the automobile makers to create better engines with less emissions and better gas mileage? Or ... B) Does the state need more money to create and fix the roads and highways? A) If this is the case, a different bill should be in place to hit automobile makers, not the citizens. B) If it is money, where is the money going and why does it cost so much. Since I understand the road construction is contracted out, how much do other states pay for their roads .... are we being taken by the companies that are contracted (if so, throw your hate against them, not the government ..... the government can only do only so well as the companies that are available to contract out to). For those on the east side of the mountains, such as myself. I have noticed that a lot of people that live on the east side have idaho plates. I am guessing that it is to lower the costs, but when they do that it hurts all of us. Furthermore, do we still have to have hate against groups of people? Several commented that these people were stupid democrats. Are they really stupid for the idea they came up with? - or - Were they not as smart coming up with an idea on how to find a solution to the problm with the help of the people of this state? Coming up with a solution as a team (the people in WA) makes it a lot easier to swallow when we know what the problem is and we all contribute to a solution to resolve it.

    Illegal immigrants

California's problems are all due to illegal immigrants? Look, I am a pureblood Washingtonian and I think California is a screwy state, but you sound like a racist. You obviously live in some small part of our fair state that doesn't utilize illegal immigrant labor.

If you have any years on you at all, yhen you know damned good and well hat this state is about as over taxed as you can get.As a matter of FACT we are one of if not the highest taxed states in the union. And, not all of us can get by with your idea of everyone driving a 35 MPG vehicle. It sounds to me like you're one of these damned tree huggers.
  • Sun, Feb 24 2008 12:15 PM In reply to

    simple solution

There is really quite a simple answer to the over taxing in this state. Simply do what we're doing, move to Texas where they know how to treat their citizens, especially their seniors. One of the lowest cost of living states there is, and the weather in ElPaso is great year round. You know why they call Wash, the evrgreen state ? Because they are forever after our greenbacks. So long Wash.we won't miss you.

    Agree with Colorado

I agree that everything will cost more if this passes,(food to fuel). Therefore, the licence fees will have to be raised again and again just to keep up. We retired folks who are on a fixed income will suffer just like those on mimimum wages. Reading and digesting the bill doesn't take a "rocket scientist", the bill is strickly for a "state monitory gain". It has nothing to do with vehicle loads on the roads or reduction of emmissions as stated in the purpose. Those people with extra vehicles around the house will sell or park them. We can only drive one at a time. The State will lose the fees on those vehicles parked on the car lots. Too bad that a parked/licenced vehicle has to pay an load/emmmission tax for sittin in the driveway and used only to deliver meals-on-wheels one day a week. Next to come will be the red-pens striking out the Motor-Home-Exemption and adding how much pet feces you place in the trash cans while on vacation in a state park.

    Party of the Pooooooor!

So much for the Democrats' looking out for the poor and downtrodden. I wonder when the populace will begin to connect the dots. It's the money, Stupid. They care not a whit for the working man beyond what mileage ($$$$'s and Power) they can get out of out of their empty slogans. That and what mileage they are beginning to get of of the Man Made Global Warming scam. People, find a real religion to worship. Dump these politically correct Stalinists who are trying (successfully, I might add) to get you to bow down and kiss their feet. We voted in lower registration costs, then the Liberal courts threw out the initiative. Only a wise Governor got the Legislature to re-enact it. Then they voted in the weight surcharge for which no weight of car is exempt. We voted down an initiative that would have added 9 cents a gallon gas tax, then the Legislature vote in a 15 cent a gallon increase. Dots people, Dots!!

Hello, I didn't see an introduction folder, but had to join when I saw so many who are in the know about the fascist movements being forced upon the Washington state people, not only us but the entire US. This bogus global warming, green crap. The Liberalists who pad thier pockets while enacting bills to take more from the general public, need to be taken out of their offices. Now about the SB 6900 bill, this is an outright violation of my choice to chose the size vehicle I want to drive. They want to conform us to the European countries, where we all drive tiny cars or walk, use the bus. Their constant bleating over the short supply of gas is just pure bull, just a standard ploy they use to hike up gas prices and now they are reaching out for more control. They wanted their $3. a gallon, their next hike will be moving us up to $4., then $5. this will bring us in relation to the Euros. In fact I heard something about them wanting to replace the dollar with the Euro? Anyone know anything about this?? We can thank the Uniting of Nations and the trade agreement of which the US is a foreleader. For losses to the US economy but shipping jobs out to Mexico, China, ect. ect. Thanks to Canadian lumber imports at a retail cost lower that what the US mills can sell for. My husband works at Portac in Forks, Wa, on the Olympic Peninsula. Portac has closed the doors of thier Tacoma plant. Thank you liberalists for wanting to sell us up the river, then expect us to make you rich by increased taxes and around the corner tab costs .. As you can see I am a mad wet hen...LOL So anyone know for sure about the bill? How can we combat this world globing farce, this is a powerful movement and the GPM (General Public Mentality) is eating it up? Appreciate anyone's answers or comments on some of this stuff. I have seen some comment that the SB6900 is dead, is it? Has anyone an e-mail from a person in government, the goulish mayor or other? I am going to E-mail her and ask her what her stand is on this, (of coarse I know what it is) but I want to grill a bit.

    Tax Base Increase

They don't dare increase the gas tax because they can't show what they did with the last increase. So instead they need to invent a fee. Why can't they simply be honest and increase the gas tax and build more lanes like so many of us prefer? Is it so difficult to understand? Instead they propose a transportation package to build rail and buy more buses for some exceptional amount of debt. Less than 5% of the population uses mass transit. What they proposed would increase that by 2 percentile at most. Olympia needs to pull their heads out into the daylight and listen. Fuel prices and the free market system will change our habits and lead us into smaller cars and engines. These politicians are again out of their realm.

Get real Tom. Your out to raise taxes and fees on those of us in the working class and retirees. We can't afford thses outrageous fees your proposing. I could have been excluded if I had a motor home, but alas I can't afford one of those either. You reps. have to come up with bills that are fair and reasonable to all Wa. residents. I will go along with another commentor and suggest a huge tax increase for Medina properties. Even a larger on for Motor Homes.

You folks just won't stop. You just dinged us with a weight tax on our PU trucks and now this. Those of who need a truck to work don't like being singled out! The best way to pay for roads is to put tolls on higher maintenance raods. Then those who use the roads pay the bill. Look at most states back east - it works and makes sense!

Maybe even pay a tole for the use of them.

These things are a hazard to traffic. So not only make them buy license, but how about a hazard tax. After all they are an extreme hazard to traffic. I think they should pay just as much for a license as we do for our cars, and not the $30.00 we SHOULD be paying , but what we have to pay now. There are signs on most of our rural highways with a picture of a bycycle and the words "give them a break" If you idiots want to ride your bikes on the traffic side of the fog line, and there is traffic comming at me, guess what? I'm not moving over for ya. So good luck.
