    Lewis County Commissioner

I totally agree with this concept. There are far too many structurally sound buildings being put out to pasture as they are abandoned as public schools; we have two in my local school district. Part of one is now being used as a museum and houses a sheriff substation. If grant money could be obtained through this type of legislation, the museum could possibly purchase the structure and lease out space to other entities to raise operating capital. Would like to see an attachment giving local entities first preference by school districts.

In favor of Senate Bill 6872

My husband, Lawrence E. Panco, and I,Betty L. Panco, would like to urge you to vote for passage of Bill 6872. We have a closed grade school in Packwood. At present the Sheriff's Office is using one room for a temporary substation. A group is creating a museum in the rest of it. If your bill would clear the way for a local group to have first chance at purchasing the building, rather than an outside group, our town could benefit from it. There are too many abandoned buildings that are in good shape that are allowed to deteriate and be vandalized and become eyesores. Please vote for the bill and help our school be a useful part of our community again.
