Hello, I am writing in regards to the Kent Events Center Funding. I am very concerned that Kent will be overlooked because of the Seattle Supersonics causing a special session. If this happens, there won't be enough money to fund te Kent project. Surely, having affordable events would be a higher priority than trying to keep high price entertainment.
In the times we are living now, no one will be able to afford attending a Sonics game anymore, but we are seeking more family income friendly venues. The Seattle Thunderbirds are a very good hockey team to see and affordable to attend. I feel that the Kent Events center should be a higher valued commodity.
Kent doesn't deserve to be swallowed up by the big money boys. If money talks, how do families and children benefit by staying home to watch TV, knowing that the price of a Sonic ticket will burn a hole in their pocket. Tell the Sonics we cannot afford them anymore. A world class 60,000m seat arena in Renton would be nice, but we cannot afford to fund Mr. Bennett 300 Million to build a mecca to where can can only afford looking at it from the outside.
Please don't encourage a special seesion, for the sake of having affordable family friendly events, especially a place in Kent where our children, nieces, nephews, family and relatives will be able to spend quality time together.
Kent deserves better for a family valued community. We have worked so hard to get to where we are today and it would be a painfull slap in the face to see a community get snubbed out by a struggling Basketball franchaise. Please take thought into the communities over professional owners. Families making less income certainly deserve to a chance to see affordable entertainment. Please show your true heart for the little man. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Stephen Farrell
