What is the need for this bill? Is there a high level of public harm occurring? According to the FDA the generic medications are equivalent and interchangeable. Take them on. Us pharmacists have enough regulations, and in the face of declining reimbursements for all prescriptions, many below cost, we really don't have time to call everyone in the country to fill a prescription that the insurance company says must be generic. Why not come up with an important bill that requires adequate reimbursement to pharmacies, limits the number of prescriptions per pharmacist to prevent errors, works to curb the unsafe practice of mail order pharmacy, etc.? Instead you want to pass laws that make it even more difficult and labor intensive to do the job, while cutting government reimbursement for pharmacy services (of course we can't control the one's that are really making money, the insurance and drug companies...lobby and campaign money). You really want too much, and will be aiding the drug company desires to eliminate pharmacists altogether. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't a drug company lobbyist that pushed you to write this bill.
