parity bill increases health insurance rates

hi, i just got a notice from my health insurance company Lifewise of Wa.......and the rates for my family of 4 will increase about $80 a month in jan.08 to about $400monthly. my whole life i have had health insurance as my father ingrained it in my head that it was necessary and going without was too risky.....well, when i called Lifewise to inquire about the rate increase they blaimed the passage of the MENTAL HEALTH PARITY LAW.......which i see you voted on....did you not know the result of the passing of this? it has increased my rate so much that we most likely will drop our health insurance for the first time in 44 years because WE CANT AFFORD IT!! secondly, i have only had catastrophic which does not even cover doctors visits or mental health visits.....who backed this bill? was it the pharmacetical companies so they can put more people on addicting drugs? this upsets me very much and i wish that you would back the legislature by the Insurance Commission to regulate premiums so that hard working middle class citizens of this country can afford health insurance so they won't lose their home if they ever to get very sick.... jodi digiacomo

    Your Wrong

My ex-wife, after receiving a degree from Seattle University, attending Notre Dame University and the University of Washington, bacame ill with a mentally disabling disease. Because of the psychosis triggered by the physical attributions of her uncontrollable and inherited disease, she lost her home, her job, her car, her credit cards, her checking account, her identity, and her life. You are so selfis - do you know when/if you become ill from a mental disease nobody cares and you're considered a 'bum' raking off societies hand outs on the streets? You fool. Mental ilnness is actually sometimes more destructive than cancer or AIDS - in light of the fact you must live with the destruction instead of dying and not having to live through it!
