    Disgusting politics

This displays the epitomy of negative partisan politics, that the Democrats would shoot down every single reasonable amendment proposed by Republicans. Despicable!

    Good Job

Thank you for caring enough about our children and grandchildren to start the discussion regarding these important life making decisions. Many of us would wish for abstinence for all teens, however, reality shows this is not the case and these young people need intelligent, accurate and truthful information. Sue Tingstad Coupeville WA

    PARENTS SHOULD BE NOTIFIED!

This was disgusting partisan politics at it's best. I watched live on TVW last night as each reasonable amendment was proposed and heard and then listened to the socialists deathgrip of control on the floor. DISGUSTING INDEED! Parents should be notified of this level of education being imposed on their kids! Public Schools are obviously the socilists training grounds and that line of thinking doesn't fit into their social re-engineering training plan! Concerned Parent Olympia, Washington

    Grow Up!

So, because children make poor decisions and outright wrong decisions we should alter their education to support this flawed decision making? Why not distribute information on everything to everyone regardless of age, understanding or ability? The Democrats again show how they are still rebelling like children against all of us over 30 who can't be trusted. Grow up and take some responsibility!

This will be used to force feed our kids on the gay issue.

Don't think for a minute that the Democrats care about anything else in this area.

    the "gay issue"

Sure, because it's better to keep teenagers in the dark about real life. Once again, Senator Brandland is a rare voice of reason in the Republican Caucus.

It's all about the gays, and indoctrinating young kids

That's why I am against parents having no input on what is taught as "normal" in the public schools. Yes, I am a hateful bigot homophobic straight American family wage earner dad with a lunchpail.

I don't see how teaching kids accurate sex / health information is threatening? We had Health classes in junior (middle) school that were segragated by sex ...males in one class...females in another class and it didn't hurt anyone. This was more than forty years ago! In fact I think it was very helpful to both the girls and the boys to know where babies come from and what to expect as our bodies mature. How does this promote being gay? I think people see dirt where they want.

    What happened to representation???

I love the fact that this was passed without any input from parents. We should be able to decide what is appropriate and when for our kids. I guess it is just amother payback to the teachers unions. If we spent half the effort on the basics as they do on sex ed then we wouldn't have to import engineers and doctors. Let the kids be kids for a while!!!

Get out of our Kids; bedrooms

Does anyone know that the sexual bill of rights offered by Planned Parenthood dictates that privacy is a right ? Remember when I went to school the bill of rights had more to do with Freedom of religion , then public schools supporting to undermine it . Now I doubt they will be handing out new locks with the condoms at the public schools , but the belief that casual sex is on the same plain as Marriage except for only health risks is not exactly a curriculum built on truth . Oh well ... What the heck , a few thousand years of western civilization over ruled , I hope they had a open debate ... I notice it was voted upon basically on party lines . That should make the historians understand about which party really advocated "changing " the culture through a political theocracy .

In response to "???" Anonymous Citizen 3/12, you made comments about seperate classes, didn't hurt anyone, being helpful to boys and girls to know where babies come from and what to expect our bodies going through and how this promotes being gay? You miss the point completely. The medically and scientifically accurate program includes gay practices. The classes aren't always segrageted. Just because something may be medically or scientific doesn't mean it is age appropriate, nor maturaity appropriate. Unless a parent has the opportunity to preview the program and decide for if it is appropriate for their child, the program does hurt. 40 years ago can you imagine a child of 10 asking another child of 10 to have sex with them? It's happening now, in large part because this information is being given out too young, including what are gay acts. Maybe this will help you understand what the harm is and how it promotes the gay agenda.

    What Kids Should Know

If that's true...then I agree with you. Sexual and sexually related information is sensitive and should be treated as such. It should be taught in Health Classes as part of the School's Physical Education Classes in Middle School since that is when the body starts to change for most of us and the kids are bound to have questions. In my day, many parents found this a relief, while others expanded on it at home if the kids had any further questions or concerns. It is helpful to have the classes divided by sex. Girls in one class, boys in another because it's easier to ask questions without being embarassed. I see no reason to teach kids about being gay or any other kind of 'sexual preference". If a kid has questions about this or individual problems they should be directed to an adult capable of helping them. Kids need to know how and why their bodies are changing and probably information about sexually transmitted diseases (the films we were shown on this 40 years ago were a little on the funny side because they were so old fashioned but they gave us a good dose of making good choices). At no time were we shown any kind of "how to" information. A little 'mystery' was left for us to find out when the proper time came.

    Parents are already notified

Sexual education is optional in schools already. The school district itself can decide not to teach it, and the parent can keep his children out of the class if he wishes it. This bill just ensures that schools that teach sex ed teach do so accurately. Are also opposed to the teaching of factual math or history?

    No separation

In this bill, boys and girls will be together. There was an Amendment that would separate them while teaching this, but it was defeated. Also, it will be taught fifth grade and up! 10 years olds! Let kids be kids for a while.

That was the best one-liner I've read in a long while! I am with you all the way. WE the parents are responsible for OUR children IN and OUT of public schools.
