Why has this bill been assigned to the Senate Labor, Commerce, Research and Development Committee? Here's why.... This is a clear case of manipulating the assignment of a bill to a particular committee to ensure the bill makes it out of that committee to a full vote on the floor. By placing it in a committee where there is a predominance of reps who lean toward the precepts of a bill, that committee is more abt to pass it than the rightful committee for the bill which was and is the Judiciary committee. This is the committee where all firearms bills are designated to go and have gone in the past as it should be. A clear OUTRAGE!!! The gun grabbin Dems know that the Senate Labor, Commerce, Research and Development Committee is ruled by mostly anti-gun DEMs and thusly, will waive parlimentary procedures, rules and protocol to get their way and release this travesty and utterly false bill to a floor vote. Write or call your Senators now to expess your outrage. Better yet....do both!

This bill is an unneeded expansion of the intrustions on private property rights! As the Democratice Leadership knows they can NOT get his bill through on its merits (like bill have failed for several years now) they used dirty politics to put it in a Committee which would give it a higher chance of success. This bill is a home looking for a problem! There is NO gun show loop hole, ALL state and federal laws MUST be followed. Several federal studies routinely show criminals do NOT buy but aobut 1% of their guns at gun shows, the preferred source is old fashioned THEFT. But the anti-gun Democrats do not desire to confuse a good story with facts! Why were most of the supporters of this bill from out of state? Beside those who live here do NOT want it! Then there was the Seattle Chief of Police, you know they guy who personnally lost his pistol about 2 years ago (still not found) and who department LOST ~15 guns JUST LAST YEAR. These are the folks that are protecting us?

This is a solution looking for a problem. The supportive testimony to the Committee was provided by out-of-staters and a Seattle Police Chief who lost his pistol ~2 years ago and runs a department which lost ~15 guns just LAST year. There is NO gun show loop hole, as proven by federal studies that show ~1% of guns used in crimes come from gun shows. We won't even discuss the dirty politics of assigning this bill to a Committee other than the one in which it belongs!

Dear Senator, We are asking that you oppose SB 5197, the gun show loophole bill. Instead, this should be called the “END of Gun Shows” Bill. As members of Washingtonians for Wildlife Conservation, we understand that criminals DO NOT obtain their guns at Gun Shows, because they get them either “on the street”, from friends and from criminal acquaintances. A Justice Department study placed gun shows as the LEAST LIKELY source of criminals’ guns. Gun shows are not a threat to public safety, criminals are. So let’s not punish the law abiding gun owners that want to buy and sell their guns in a safe and responsible forum. Please defend law abiding citizens and not restrict their rights. We need a place to legally purchase used weapons for self protection against the very criminals you want to stop. Respectfully, Dan & Sharon Bihary

I was a licenced gun dealer back in the day. The gun show is just for fun. Criminals are going to get guns off the street. They arent going to go to a show and pay sales tax and stuff. lol A lot of gun show stuff you wouldnt even need a license to sell anyway. I think its anything before 1898. I would worry more about a criminal with a cross bow. lol. Its really more about the states greed for sales tax revenue. But ya know. 8.8% of nothin is nothin.

just think you would need a $200 FFL, $200 state lincese and $75 or so for each city you went to to sell at a show. lol Can you say conflict of interest ?
