Taxes of any kind should be more difficult to pass than easier.

Teachers got enough time off as it is
This is just another ploy by the teachers union to get more money, less time, and less accountability by the teachers. Enough is enough, how much do these greedy, lazy people need? They already are working part-time for full time wages. They have winter, spring, Christmas and summer breaks, conferances, in-service training days, and days off for just having days off. How cushy is that? No wonder our kids are failing the WASL, they are never in school to do anything. Teachers are getting lazier by the year, earning more money, and whining like they are the only ones working hard.! Boo Hoo, Boo Hoo, grow up you whiners and start working for a living like the rest of us.
|
|

|

And that free time they have is consumed by grading papers from 6 class, all of which cantoain from 20-35 kids. When they aren't grading papers, they are making up lesson plan.s Some teahcer, yes, are lazy, stupid, and shouldn't be teachers. But I believe the majority is trying to actually get this generation of complete and total idiots to do something with their lives.

I wonder how much time these stupid, lazy teachers spend planning for the work day while they are at home in the evening and weekends? Hummmmm...lots I will bet! They are underpaid and overworked. Our government took away all the control from parents and teachers so now the teachers get to deal with kids that are lazy and stupid, pregnant and on drugs. I think they earn their money!

Teachers are hard working people that have put me where I am today, on my way to earning good pay and having a good life. The WASL is a horrible system of testing kids anyways, forcing teachers to teach their students how to pass the WASL rather than teaching them what they are passionate about themselves.

Respect the People Raising our Future Generations
People that have such anger against teachers should stay home and teach their own children. Teachers work as hard as other professionals just at different times. Weekends and evenings are spent grading papers and preparing lesson plans, so if their hourly wage was figured out they would make much less than the rest of us. Respect the people that are educating and helping raise your children!

ignorace is bliss!
go volunteer one year in a class room at your local school and see if you feel the same.

Teachers aren't lazy. I'm not an educator but I know that most teachers spend a lot of their own time correcting papers and assembling their lesson plans. Tenure and the inability to get rid of ineffective and/or poor teachers is the problem. For this reason my children attend private school where there is more accountability and the freedom to replace the poor educators.

I vote for our children's future
Lazy and overpaid? This is a very ignorant statement. I myself am not a teacher but I know many of them..and I can state will all certainty that they are underpaid and overworked. Not to mention the disrespect they seem to deal with on a constant basis (as stated above). How is it the professional ball-players and actors make so much and those teaching our children make so little? Our priorities are seriously screwed up.
Teachers ALWAYS have my vote.

I am 28 years and I can remember very well teachers taking advantage of students' (future voters)impressionability by using(abusing)class time to brainwash them into thinking teachers are underpaid and overworked. I say "brainwash" because children are instructed from a very early age to obey and believe what teachers say. This shameless activity happens all the time. Teachers are paid to use class time to educate students, not to use as a forum for their personal opinions or financial troubles! I actually remember one teacher complaining about not being able to use tax payer money to buy donuts for the teacher meetings anymore! And then they use propaganda like "support education" and "save our children" as euphemisms for "give me more money" to sway voters. I like how many people say teachers are underpaid, but ask them how much an average teacher makes in this state and see if they even know. They usually won't. They just "know" teachers don't make much, but only because teachers are always saying so! News flash- no one says he/she makes enough! Taking into account time off per year with realively moderate training/education requirements, teachers make out quite well.

While some of your points have merit...certainly teachers shouldn't waste class time with personal whining...it is important to teach students the value of having an opinion.
It is also important to for pay scales in any profession to be enough to attack good people. If you don't pay well, you don't attract the best. They go elsewhere.
Sounds like you got teachers that weren't paid well. You disproved your own arguement. lol

King County to the rescue
Isn't it amazing how when it is a state supported issue in an election that is losing, first the papers will "prepare" you for a possible turn around and next, along comes good ol King county with the needed votes. Wonder which missing ballots they 'found' this time. Anyone smell the rat here?
Please join me in congratulating the new State capitol...King County with its queen Christine.
No wonder voter turn out is so poor.
At the whim of the corrupt state, either the voters will is overturned by mysterious 'discovered', 'late', or somehow 'overlooked or 'uncounted' votes, or they sue and find some judge to rule that the voters will is unconstitutional.
I'm seriously wondering if I will even bother to vote ever again in this once beautiful and honest state.

That is why Initiative 25 came about
King county sorely needs to be 'cleaned' out. The voters need to have confidence restored. The above voter who commented is just one out of thousands who are dis-enfranchised and have no faith in the electoral process.
Its time to clean under the carpet in King county.

You're definately someone who has a bad case of 'conspirancy theory disease'. Remember that schools educate kids that will pay for your sorry butt when you are going to be on wellfare or in a retirement home. I applaud that this measure has passed ..

Sit back and reap the benefits others pay for. Ha! Spare us your socialist delusions.
I guess the schools need more money to pay for all those condoms and birth control they intend to pass out. More money so more parents can abducate their own responsibilities in raising, diciplining and educating their children and pass off that responsibility to a state funded school that can't teach kids anything except birth control and a fine tuned, scripted, socialistic agenda.
Our "educated" kids will know less about reading, writing, and math, and more about how to get around good ole basic education and graduate with a grade they didn't earn. They can't even pass the stinkin basic K-12 educational requirements test but yep, let's throw more money at em and make it easier to do so on the backs of the property owners.
The dumbing down of America. Conspiracy - I think not; more like the inevitable outcome of EVERY socialistic form of government ever to exist on this earth. Don't take my word for it...do your own research.
When they grow up, they too can retire and live off the state welfare system paid for by more kids who graduated with a 9th grade education in a grand old socialist state just like every good Marxist or Communist envisioned. Tapped out, dependant and in debt to the state for everything. Sounds like its right up your alley. I sincerely hope you are young enough so that you will be alive to live in the social morass you helped create.
Yes I know a bit about socialism, we dumped that mind sucking type of government when my parents immigrated here to escape it only to watch it start here all over again with mindsets and political machinations like yours.
Look at the stats. The most populated counties (read that - the most socialist) are the ones who dictate to the rest of the state. That is why the super majority is there in the first place. To offset the unbalanced voter base - City vs rural. Without it, the rural areas have no say whatsoever. Like the writer said; the new State Capital which rides to the rescue of the socialist machine in its hour of need.
Just remember something oh toothless one....the property owners who retire may not be able to afford their property because they are taxed out of it to pay for the socialist feeding trough. THAT is why they will be on welfare. And when the property market bottoms out (like it is starting to do now) Who then will the government turn to to extract its 'fair share'?
That's right know it all.....YOU!

Love it. Something that Tim Eyman and his hoard of mercencary initiative signature gatherers will not be able to touch.

Mercenary signature gatherers???
Wake up moron and stop waxing idiotic.
The only fools who like higher taxes are the tax and spend politicians like we have on Mount Olympia now and those liberal flunkies who believe the state should collect and dole out everything worthwhile in life because they are not competent enough to take care of themselves.
Which of those tarpits did you crawl out of?
In case you haven't been following the trends here in our great state, the only thing standing between you and higher taxes are fiscally conservative politicians (of which there are far too few) and Tim Eyeman and those 'mercencary(SIC)" signature gatherers you villify.
Pull your head out of the liberal feeding bowl for a minute or two and take a look around you.

You are just steamed that 4204 is an amendment to the constitution which closes the door to Eyman being able to undo it.
By the way, you fiscal conservatives would have more say so these if you had not put your head in the sand and let the religious rigtht hi-jack the GOP a few years back.

Talk about keep your head in the sand, just like the good indocrinated socialist liberal you are, you manage to dodge all the points the writer made.
Keep voting democrat... I hope you do because after all the fiscal conservatives vanish, all that will be left are you tax advocates. And guess what...when the long fingers of the government continue to reach into YOUR wallet, you will be crying for someone like Eyeman to rescue your stupid butt from the regressive tax system the government levies on you.
You libs are so predictable, your thoughts and comments readable like so much grafitti on a street sign.

I'm so tired of the attempts to railroad the serious economic and environmental issues we face not only as a nation but also globally by this scandel magazine mentality. Let's address the real concens of the american public and leave the bedroom blatter to yellow jounralism and those morons that read those mags.
Yes. People have sex. Yes. Even politicans have sex. Yes. Politicans from both sides don't always make good choices on sex. Proves they are human.
Let's move on.

People with your attitude will be the fall of this country
Talk about the "Hide your head under the covers" mentality.
Anytime you do not think that there is a conspiracy to enslave the population, try this:
-Make a list of all the rights the people once had under the Constitution but do not have now.
-Make a list of everything you "really" own. By that I mean those things that cannot be taken away from you or confiscated at the whim of the government for any reason they so choose to give.
-Make a list of everything you are beholden to the government to receive and keep by their leave.
-Make a list of all those powers that the government has granted to itself that are not specifically granted to it by the Constitution and in blatant violation of the 10th Amendment which clearly states "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
-Mathematically predict the number of laws and restrictions and violations of basic rights that will be in effect in the next 50 years given the law of averages and based on the number that have been passed or restricted in the past 50 years.
Now tell us again how there is no conspiracy...no slow road to slavery.

Conservatives have been leveling cries of "Socialist! Socialist!" at their Liberal counterparts since before you were born, sonny. Your argument that the supermajority requirement for these levies is a crucial weapon in the fight between the good-'ol American right and the decadant ivy-league city dwellers that hate everything the country stands for is ridiculous. This isn't a referrendum on whether we should socialize medicine or abolish private property rights. This is a referrendum on making it easier to improve the lives of our children.
Do you really think that a bill designed to make it easier to fund our schools is part of a vast leftist conspiracy to turn us into a welfare state? Or are you just too lazy to come up with a conspiracy theory with any originality?
|
|
-
|
|
Regardless of your personal opinions on how hard it should be to levy taxes, only school levies have the supermajority requirement, not taxes that pay for prisons or new City Hall buildings. Why should it be harder to teach our children than it is to lock up a felon?

I find it interesting that the esteemed commentor preceeding myself spent his entire post commenting on how the "thoughts and comments" of "libs" (sic) are "readable". It seemed to me, indoctrinated "lib" that I am, that his so-called repudiation of the arguments of the hated left was nothing more than a series of ad hominem attacks and a ridiculous straw man scenario in which (for reasons not entirely made clear) that every fiscal conservative on the planet dissapears and the liberals that remain find themselves helpless to resist the tax burden of their own design. As much as I admire the imagination and creativity of such a fantastic scenario, I must remind my esteemed counterpart that, in such a scenario, some of the remaining liberals would inevitably become fiscal conservatives. The political climate abhors a vacuum.
I feel it necessary to remind my anonymous friend that, much as I respect his thoughts and opinions, I do not think that I will EVER feel the need to be saved by Eyeman-or anybody, for that matter-from the scourge of educated children.
4204 is not a scam designed to establish a welfare state. It is designed to give our children the education they deserve. Sir, much as you hate the left, can't you find it in your heart to help children?
|
|

By opening your mouth (and keyboard) you are making the fiscal conservative's point for them.
Talk about a 'transparent' lib. Can't even see the point because of the words.
"Tis better to keep silent and let them think you a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt"
