WA budget shortfall grows, more cuts coming

According to the latest revenue forecast for Washington, revenues or tax collections for the state are down.  This means the state's budget shortfall has ballooned to $5.7 billion.  At this point Governor Gregoire can either make additional across-the-board cuts, which would total nearly 11%, to state programs; or lawmakers can return to Olympia for a Special Session and make more targeted cuts.  Which would you prefer?  You can read more about the revenue forecast in The Olympian's post.

Considering the obvious need for more solvent residents in wash. state, why does the Growth Management act concentrate efforts on acquiring more affordable (cheap) housing,(Auxiliary Dwelling Units) for people who can't afford to live here, instead of favoring entrepreneurs, and businesspeople who could eventually create more jobs.

Note that Health and Human services is the largest segment of state government.
