Hmmmm...I was unaware there were any restrictions on taxes making them permanent features of state law, without sunset features, or without the abiltiy to be voted down by a new initiative, should the voters choose so. But, perhaps we have such a law written in our Constituion saying, "Once a tax, always a tax, and once in law, may only increase in value."
No, I don't live in Seattle. I live in a rural area hours away.

In what world do you live in where taxes go down? The more money the state takes in the more the state spends. It's been that way since the begining of taxes.
As for you carpooling, I salute you, but, there are those of us who don't have the luxury of such things. You're probably from Seattle (we already know you're a Calinvader), where you think the population ends on the I-5 Corridor. I have news for you. IT doesn't, and there are plenty of people who cannot stand large cities and reject all they encompass (except for home-delivered pizza).

Taxes go up and taxes go down. This tax could go down in the future. If it will help our state get back on its feet, I am for it. I have been carpooling for quite some time now to reduce gasoline consumption and can afford this tax as part of the money I have set aside for transportation costs.
