2007 House Bill 1730: Regarding the use of the life sciences discovery fund for human stem cell research.

To allow the donation of human stem cells from any source for research purposes if the donor has provided written consent. The donor may not receive valuable consideration for the donation. The bill would also prohibit money from the Life Sciences Discovery Fund to be used for human embryonic stem cell research unless the stem cells were donated. However, such funding could not be used for donated stem cells for human cloning or to injure an embryo implanted in a uterus.   Official Text and Analysis.

To eliminate the requirement for an embryonic stem cell research oversight committee to approve research projects at institutions of higher education. A statement is added to declare the Legislature's intent that stem cell research in Washington be consistent with national recommendations and processes.
