2011 Senate Bill 5112: Changing restrictions on firearms noise suppressors
  1. Introduced by Sen. Brian Hatfield (Raymond) (D) on January 14, 2011, to exempt from criminal liability the use of firearms noise suppressors that are legally registered and possessed in accordance with federal law. (Companion: HB 5112).

This bill allows for the use of supressors on firearms.  Strangely, undercurrent law, suppressors (often erroniously called "silencers") are legal to posess in Washington, but they are not legal to use.


Federal regulations require special licensing and background checking to purchase.


This well-needed bill would legalize their use and help to decrease the noise from shooting ranges.
