2011 House Bill 1912: Creating an administrative sobriety checkpoint program

Authorizes targeted checkpoint programs to deter and detect persons driving under the influence. This act establishes administrative sobriety checkpoint programs in which law enforcement agencies may stop all, or a designated sequence of, all passenger vehicles on specified dates and times to check for driver sobriety. This act requires participating law enforcement agencies to seek a court order to conduct the checkpoints within their jurisdiction. This act provides specific requirements for an application to conduct a checkpoint. This act also creates a gross misdemeanor for any driver who fails to stop at a designated checkpoint.   Official Text and Analysis.
