What is the weathiest segment of our society?  It is, of course, senior citizens who have striven all their lives to accumulate wealth to live on during retirement.  Why should "junior citizens" (i. e. those not yet defined as senior) who may have higher incomes but little wealth (yet) be subsidizing wealthy senior citizens?  It may make some small amount of sense to take care of those who are handicapped (or whatever the current, politically correct term is today) but simply age discrimination is not right.
