2010 Senate Bill 6207: Authorizing the creation of golf cart zones.

Authorizes county and city governments to create golf cart zones around golf courses, which would permit the incidental operation of golf carts on streets with a speed limit of 25 miles per hour or less.   Official Text and Analysis.

Removes provisions related to the requirement that golf cart zones surround golf courses. Several provisions related to safety are added, including an age requirement, local discretion on restricting golf carts to daylight hours, and a prohibition on operators with revoked licenses. A provision allowing local jurisdictions to require and charge for a golf cart decal is added.

To provide that cities or counties may create golf cart zones by ordinance or resolution. The ordinance or resolution must be for the purposes of permitting incidental use of golf carts on public roads that have speed limits of 25 mph or less. Golf cart drivers within golf cart zones are subject to the same rules of the road as vehicle drivers. Other than rules of the road, golf carts and golf cart drivers within golf cart zones are not subject to motor vehicle provisions.

Cities or counties may create golf cart zones by ordinance or resolution on roads that have a speed limit of 25 miles per hour or less. The Governor's veto removes safety exemptions that were included in the bill.
