Introduced by Rep. Mike Hope, (R-Lake Stevens) (R) on February 9, 2009, seeks to encourage the purchase of motor vehicles that reduce air pollution. Creates the clean air and automobile incentive program, which would exempt the first two thousand dollars of tax incurred on the purchase of cars with a minimum EPA gasoline mileage rating of thirty miles per gallon. Certain limitations apply, such as the age of trade-in cars, and a twenty-five million dollar per year limit on taxes saved by dealers.
Referred to the House Finance Committee on February 9, 2009.
